Usebenza Assessment Centre is a comprehensive occupational therapy assessment centre, the only of its kind in the country to offer unique opportunities within the following pillars of activities:
- Use of facilities (space and equipment) to clinical therapists
- Research in work assessment and rehabilitation
- Teaching and learning for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Continuous professional development for clinical occupational therapists.
Physical space and equipment consist of seven private consultation rooms as well as an extensive range of test equipment (including formal and informal instruments) to assess clients of all ages and backgrounds for medico-legal, insurance, schooling and employment purposes. Usebenza is currently managed by an administrative assistant, Ms Lezaan Pillay, and a lecturer from the Division of Occupational Therapy, Mrs Munira Hoosain.
