?The Department of Practical Theology and Missiology is dedicated to exploring how the Word and acts of God take shape in human life through ministry, mission, and transformative engagement with the world. Our work is rooted in the conviction that theology is not only about understanding God, but about participating in God's ongoing mission.
Practical TheologyPractical Theology focuses on the lived experience of faith within communities. It focuses on:
· Church ministry and Faith communities in diverse socio-cultural contexts
· Pastoral Care and Counselling
· Community Development
· Youth Ministry and Contemporary Challenges
· Liturgical Studies, Homiletics & Hymnology
?We seek to understand how God meets humanity and calls us to respond to the needs of our neighbours. We ask: What are these needs? How do we respond to them? How do we equip leaders and congregations to respond faithfully and effectively?
Missiology
Missiology brings a global and intercultural lens to this work. It explores what it means to be sent by God into the world to cross boundaries of race, class, gender, culture, and geography to bear witness to the Gospel. We engage with:
· Mission as dialogue and presence
· Inculturation and contextual theology
· Intercultural and interreligious engagement
· Global Christianity and local expressions of faith
· Justice, reconciliation, and holistic transformation
Missiology challenges us to see the world through God's eyes and to ask: How do we participate in God's mission across cultures and contexts? How do we embody the Gospel in ways that are faithful, relevant, and transformative?
Together, Practical Theology and Missiology form a dynamic and integrated discipline, one that equips scholars, leaders, and communities to live out their faith in meaningful, context-sensitive, and mission-driven ways.
