Dr Theo de Jager

I am an unabashed Christian believer and stand by traditional family values. I'm committed to transparent, clean administration, and academic excellence based on science, without political servitude or ideological coercion. I stand for discipline and mutual respect in a safe environment. I believe that the character and culture of a university also belongs to every alumnus whose tracks lie across the campus. I want to position the convocation as a stronger voice for all those who fondly cherish their student experiences at Stellenbosch. ?Afrikaans is not just a language, it is a set of values. We need pragmatic, future-focused, inclusive, and consultative leadership. I have invested the skills and knowledge I gained at SU into collaborations with people of good faith, seeking to contribute to healing our nation from the wounds, trauma, and indignity of our past. ?I believe that as the beautifully diverse Convocation of SU we can collaborate through courageous and enriching dialogues that draw from the lessons of our history to address current injustices and collective fears. We can transform divisive systems into paths of unity that support future generations of students in building a more inclusive, equal, and just society.?

Mr Mfundo X. Makanda

It’s time to preserve our institutional culture at Stellenbosch 肆客足球. This university is one of the few universities in South Africa that has been able to preserve its values. Without preserving our culture, we have no future. I am running specifically to stand for those who want to maintain the values of our institution. When I visit the university in 2040, I want to witness the activities that we did in 2015 at Huis Visser. Our rich values and culture need to be maintained, preserved and respected.Let’s make Stellenbosch 肆客足球 work again! It’s our duty!

We need pragmatic, future-focused, inclusive, and consultative leadership. I am an advocate for equal access to higher education, academic excellence, and inclusiveness. My vision is for the Convocation to foster greater collaboration between the 肆客足球 and itself, to protect community interests, and to support the 肆客足球's important role in South Africa and beyond. ?I have held leadership positions in the SU Senate and SRC, and believe my active engagement in Convocation matters adds vital experience and skills that will help the Convocation function optimally and represent all of SU’s vibrant and diverse communities.

?Mr Johan Acker Smit

SI am a Christian, a patriotic South African, an experienced executive and businessman and proudly Afrikaans. I understand the importance of sound values and accountability in order to sustain excellent organisations. Regrettably, Stellenbosch 肆客足球 reflects all the characteristics of another institution in decline. This cannot be allowed. I will stand and fight for strong leadership and accountability, merit, equal opportunities, sound traditions and the retention and expansion of Afrikaans as a language of instruction. For me, Afrikaans is not only a language, it is a set of values and a culture. It is who I am.

Ms Nomzamo Portia Ntombela

We need pragmatic, future-focused, inclusive, and consultative leadership. I want to help create a Convocation that engages a spectrum of identities; which works to strengthen its existing structures and harness its advisory role in transforming SU into an inclusive and future-focused institution, one that realises its restitution statements in tangible ways. As a PhD candidate who works with students and staff, I have a heartfelt understanding of both alumni and current-student needs. My leadership positions in the SA Sociological Association and as SRC President have helped give me the experience and skills the broader Convocation community needs to thrive.

?Mrs Isabelle de Taillefer

South Africa's biggest challenges since unification are not behind us. It's ahead. The obsessive medication of pre-millennium problematics, also within academia, has birthed distorted thinking that denies current realities and negates rights of existence. Cultural guillotines for a language group, especially at a flagship university within its impressive catchment area, are nonsensical, unreasonable and counterproductive. Afrikaans is more than a language. It's a value system, a culture, a way of being. SU has always regained its balance in our seismic landscape, and new shifts threaten. It's time again for a vista reflection and re-evaluation of its place, role and vision.???

I am a lifetime learner with over 16 years of professional experience, on a mission to bridge divides. In the industry I bridge the divide between digital and business, socioeconomic divides, in professional bodies between institutions of high learning and industry, and more importantly in the convocation committee between university management, students, alumni and industry. Open Learning platforms and e-learning are redefining education boundaries post COVID-19 pandemic.
